September update... new books, more comic cons and a scattering of glitter
A calendar full of galivanting and book launches galore.
Hey everyone, hope your autumn days are being filled with pumpkin spice, baskets full of apples, and loads of time to write in the late afternoon sunshine.
It's mad busy time here with a lot going, a calendar full of galivanting (not too far afield, but galivanting nonetheless), and book launches galore.
First up is Kate Baucherel and the latest, and final installment, in her SimCavalier cyberthriller series.

This month we also published a book in less than a week as part of the WRITE Festival.

Ben Sawyer's latest book in his Holly Trinity series is due for release in just a few weeks...

And the new Harvey is available now for pre-order, with the paperback, Kindle and hardcover due to hit the shelves on 10th October.

The current Harvey basket is DARK AGES PAGAN MYTHOS, mostly because I'd love a Vikings Harvey (wide basket, not just Vikings but any old, dark, pagan magic... wobbly as usual, Romans, Celts, Druids up to Robin Hood or so). The deadline is the end of November with the book scheduled for release in January 2026. Read more here with an update on baskets and word count:

Sticking with Vikings for the moment, if you haven't encountered Fubar's Fine Goods yet, we've been having a lot of fun with foam lately, combining swords and shields with stories, quests and stuff of legend.

On the out and about front, with books rather than swords (although Fubar will also be at some of these events), the Harveys will be at Sheffield Unleashed on Sunday 5th October, Fantazmagoria in Newton Aycliffe on Sunday 12th October, and the Authors in the Abbey event in Selby on Saturday 22nd November. Pop along to nab your fab signed copies.

This month's Flash!Mob prompt has been ALL THAT GLITTERS... The deadline is tomorrow if you fancy throwing in a last minute 300 word fast fiction story.

There's loads more going on as the dark nights draw in and Halloween looms, including Harry Potter Night at Stockton Central Library on Thursday 16th October if you have any young wizards who'd like to come along to write a spell, potion recipe or spooky poem... and we're also running a horror writing project at Drake The Bookshop in Stockton this autumn. Give me a shout if you'd like more details.
We're also sorting our first run of Harvey Duckman teeshirts! You can order one here: https://cghatton.com/product/harvey-duckman-tee-shirt-2024-5/ We're past the first deadline, but if you order one or give me a shout in the next day or so, we may be able to squeeze you into this run.

And as always, if you'd like a chat about writing, books and publishing, please drop me a line.
Take care, happy reading and happy writing.
CGH xx
